Distraction is good, but give yourself room to grieve. Don’t force yourself to be OK when you’re not. Wounds do not heal by themselves. They need to be cleaned and dressed, hidden from view. But also remember that they need little doses of sunshine and fresh air.
There will be tears. But there will also be relief. There will be days when you’re alright, and there will be days when you’re not. Embrace both as part of the process. Don’t rush yourself into recovery. You’re not expected to fix yourself overnight.
Life is not a race. Wait.
